St Croix Sheep

Additional Information

We raise St Croix hair sheep.   We selected St Croix because of their parasite resistance, docile nature, mild tasting meat and the fact that they do not need to be sheared.  We have been so pleased with them.  St Croix have humorous personalities and do a heck of a job cutting grass!!.  We have not had to mow our pastures for the three years we've had them.

We sell regisistered and non registered St Croix lambs.   They make an excellent small farm flock.

We had a wonderful lambing season with 19 baby girl St Croix and 10 baby boys!!    They will be available in June.

We have recently purchased two registered St Croix ewes, so we will have two flocks.  We will be able to sell registered breeding stock as well as maintain a flock to optimize meat production possibly crossing with Katahdin or Dorpers  to increase weight.

ST CROIX SHEEP - A breed that is believed to originate in Africa and introduced to the Caribbean in the 1500's.     They were brought into the United States in 1957 and have been gaining in popularity.   The parasite resistance and ease of care has made them a logical choice for many farms.  A variety of animals pastured helps maintain soil health and vitality and St Croix fit in nicely.
